ETERNA

Carmen, one of history’s most iconic opera characters from Prosper Mérimée’s novel in 1845 is a feminist parable before its time. Has society’s view of women changed since then?

Eterna is a photographic scenario divided into four parts, (like the Opera in four acts), which retraces the crucial eras for women’s rights. Four fictional characters inspired by true stories take us on a journey, presenting the challenges women of their time had to face. A giant-sized book (A0) immerses us into these four scenarios, imitating the grandiose effect of large movie screens. A second smaller book (A3) is used to higlight the key historical moments of each time period, in an encyclopedic way.

By reincarning Carmen, her legacy to women will live on forever.
